I hate to admit this, but what exactly does a "GREAT WORKING heat lamp vacuum applicator," do?

We have vacuum heat mounting machines, but a vacuum applicator? What do you do with it? Does it mount pictures?

HVA enables operators to set control unit for temperature and length of exposure to ensure correct bonding of flexible back-light signage transfers, reflective sheeting, Panaflex signs, backlit awnings, traffic signs, and premask application tape. Features include steel construction and oil-free vacuum pump. Lamp bank and diaphragm may be raised to offer clearance for handling of materials. No special operator training is required.
enabling more effective use and better return on investment. Rugged steel construction and quality components provide consistent, uninterrupted operation. The lamp bank and diaphragm are easily raised and offer plenty of clearance for easy handling of materials. An oil-free vacuum pump offers quieter and more efficient operation.

Atmospheric pressure on a rubber diaphragm presses the sheeting or film on the application surface while heat produced by controlled infrared lamps activates the heat sensitive adhesive to form a permanent
bond of the sheeting or film to the sign surface.

More machine than a picture framer would need, IMO.

Great for a sign maker, or a photographer looking to print photos on metal, but we really only need sub 200 degree and vacuum presses.

Sounds like a really cool machine, and I hope you get what you need from it, but to be honest the only time I ever saw one of those in use it was when the town maintenance department was redoing the street signs that were torn down or vandalized by kids. Oh and when the town crew manager wanted to make a really cool sign for his home, but that was an "unauthorized" use :)
