First I would like to offer my prayers for all who lived in the effected cities. Then I would like to express the hope that we all can return to normalcy or as close to it as is possible. I say this because I think other then the fear caused by the barbaric disregaurd of life, I think what the perpetrators hope to accomplish is the paralyzing of our daily activety .Therefore I hope that we all can return to a an as close to normal life as poosible as soon as possible and there by prove that they didn't suceed.
Haveing said all that I was wondering if anyone's Atlanta plans have changed. I for one am haveing a hard time convinceing my wife to FLY to Atlanta . I have tried to suggest that we drive but that does take more time and effort.I am applauding Dermot's attitude but I don't do anything with out my better half. What about the rest of you?I say this with the full realization that some of you have much more to deal with other than wether to fly or not.

If we allow the terror that we in New York were subjected to yesterday to force us to change our lifestyle, we are allowing the perpetrators to win. We must continue to show our resolve and continue on with as little change in our plans as possible. My son was at the base of the towers (he is fine) and I have several friends that are missing and may well be victims. I will not allow this tradgedy to change my plans in any way and in doing so I will be thumbing my nose at those that will try to force me to live in fear. God bless America.

no change in plans

First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims involved in yesterday's tragedies. And, we pray for our president as he guides our nation through the coming weeks.
As the repercussions of this disaster unfold we will keep you updated about DECOR Expo-Atlanta 2001. As we write this, our anticipation is that, although security-heightened, travel should return to normal standards throughout the U.S. by next week and DECOR Expo will, indeed, occur. I have received many supportive calls today, from both exhibitors and buyers. Although some are concerned about flying, it is not stopping them from coming to the show. Driving is an option. Please check our web site www.decor-expo.com daily, for updates.
I thank the Grumblers for your support and look forward to meeting you in Atlanta.

I am proud of all your spirits . I hope that I didn't come across as a Timid capitulator. I was mostly interested in knowing if others had altered their plans.

As far as I know, if the planes are flying, We're still going, and I'm not going to let some cowardly, sneaky, conciousless terrorists stop me from living my life.

Linda and I were going to drive anyway. We are still planning to be there. Now we will have to be supplied with extra hugs, for thanking all of you who are pulling for those of us living so close to the effected people.

Let's not forget those who have lost their lives on the airplanes. Their familys and friends are from many different places. This was not just an attack on a few places, but the whole world.

If the planes are flying, so am I. If they are not, I'll have to find an alternate way of getting there.

With the new restrictinons we will have to be at the airport about 4AM, but our plans haven't changed. My wife thought about bagging out so she could stay with our daughter, but I think she needs the time away as much as I need to focus on business needs.
If the planes aren't flying we'll drive. We were only flying to avoid to have the hassles of having a car in downtown Atlanta.

I'm still planning on attending, too. I am a white knuckle flier anyway...what's a little more stress.

Pam, If the planes aren't flying we can drive together..I'd be going right through Massachusetts.

In an effort to clear up my post; What i meant is are you changing your itenery not are you going to scrap your entire trip. I say this with the realization that some inconveniences could make travel impossible.

However an example is that we have decided to drive instead of flying and have had to change some things.
We are staying at the Embassy and have a 3 night stay confirmed and were attempting to add on an additional night. When we asked the national reservation for the extra day we were told that the only way they could do this was to renegotiate the entire stay at a higher rate due to a computer programing problem. This would mean the rate would go from $189 to $219 for all the nights ,despite the confirmation for the previous 3 nights. This seemed unfair and we are talking to the Atlanta office . Other problems are that to park our vehicle will cost an additional $17 a day. Here in N'Awlins the parking is useually included.

Still another problem is that the airlines will penalize us $100 per ticket to cancel even if we secure vouchers for future flights. The really sad thig is that cancelation are refunded up to the 18 but not the 19 .The reservation office did suggest that this may be extended so we are waiting to cancel.
So with all this you may see what I actually meant. I did not mean to let these Fanatics stop us from liveing as we Americans are use to . SEE you in Atlanta.

Like unitedmfrs, I wouldn't give terrorists the satisfaction of disrupting my plans. The Atlanta show is among the most important annual framing events, and I won't miss it.

The airlines will probably be back to normal by next week. However, I've been planning all along to drive down on Wednesday and return on Monday.

If anyone between Columbus and Atlanta ends up without a flight, they're welcome to ride with me. Plenty of seats in the minivan.

God Bless America.
