Has anyone seen this web site?

Thanks for the heads up.

24x36 frame joined from these guys is $338.15 =$26.78 ft+ shipping fees.
It's still alot cheaper than I can sell it for. Even if my price was only 2 times mu, which it isn't! What are we to do?
Now wonder business is so slow for us framers with brick and morter. Dang!

You know, when we talk about this here openly on the G and then provide a link to the website, all we do is help them out. These topics will come up in searches pretty soon, and confirm to people that they can do better on-line than coming to a framer.

Yes we have a lot more to offer in skills, but they don't know that.

At the very least, IMO, it would be better to add some spaces to the website so it is not active. :kaffeetrinker_2:

I know I'm not the only one who believes that evertime someone brings up one of these web companies, who are selling at prices most small shops can't compete with, you are only helping them to be discovered.

Becuase it isn't just framers who come on this site, any information will be viewed by thousands. Alerting us to a site like this one when you do it here on the G, everyone will go and look at it, thus giving the company free advertising at the expense of real framers.

I am aware of the fact that there is no way to stop companies like this one, but bringing it our attention only helps the DIYer wanna be's....who lurk here too....to do it themselves.

I don't get what the big deal is.

Everything I saw was crazy expensive. I could retire right after Christmas if I charged those kind of prices.

a thread like this comes up every few months it seems. And I agree, why give them the free advertising?

People who will shop for price alone, might go to websites like these. However, the main portion of my customer base, are customers that like to get advise as well, like to see options and know they can come to me, leave it to me and see designs that they themselves would never have thougth about. And, if there ever is a problem, they can come back and be assured that it will be taken care of.

I think there IS a way to curb such behavior.

If it is brought to our attention on The G that "X Company" is selling directly to customers at a price lower than is reasonably found in frame shops, we could post a thread about it, and sign up those of us who want to participate in a boycott. We could all individually send a letter of intent to no longer carry their products if they don't desist by a certain date.

That would at least give the company warning that we know what they're doing, and before a number of us make kindling out of their corner samples. It would more-or-less make us a union of sorts, that pools our collective buying power to stop them from doing this.

Bad news doesn't vanish away just because we ignore or keep silent about it. This thread reminds me of a time when book keepers, instead of learning how to use the PCs, were angrily boycotting their companies' computerizing programs out of fear for their jobs. Same happened in England, over 150 years ago, when the workers were destroying mechanized tools and engines that were threatening their manual jobs. Progress can't be stopped. You either adapt yourself and go with the tide or you get under.

Found another one of those possibly run by or closely associated with Wxxx with a "distribution center" in the very same small TX town. Kinda stealthy, no names mentioned on site but those who know the line will immediately recognize it. Must be awfully tempting these days. Will message the link if you want.

who they are

I have never heard of them, nor do we sell to them.
