A customer is concerned about metal wire scratching the edges of plates she intends to hang. Isn't there a liquid plastic coating they could be dipped in to provide a softer surface for the plates? Maybe heat-shrink tubing? What about other options besides the adhesive discs?

Shrink tubing would work. The plate hangers we sell have clear plastic sleeves on the tips, but they are hard to see. Maybe theirs already have a cushion that isn't apparent?

Randall,

Ellen is correct as both the Bards and Tripar plate hangers come with plastic sleeves to protect the edges. We sell the Bards brand in our shop - available in about 7 sizes.

Rob, we know you test all kinds of hanging systems thoroughly. But as you know, I am very skeptical about relying on adhesives under stress. I prefer mechanical supports. Or, if an adhesive must be used for support, I want to at least isolate it from direct stress.

The web site has a lot of useful information. I was looking for assurances, but found no guarantee of adhesion to any particular surface.

I remain skeptical.

If the hangers you have don't have the shrink wrap plastic on the wire, you can get some from Radio Shack. It come in colors, so you can find a color that won't show up on the plate.
