SPFG, Supreme Picture Framing God
Customer wants ideas on how to hang an art glass platter, weighing 5 pounds. Oval. Silicone is not an option.

Standoffs are the way to go on this one, because she wants it mounted on the wall, not in a frame.
Nice. I've made mounts like that from wood and can be painted to match art. A little more time consuming perhaps. Here are those pics I was telling you about. I don't know if this will solve your problem but it may give you some ideas. What I did was score some 1/2" strips of plexi about 3 or 4" long or whatever you need. Then clamped to a table edge and lightly heated with a heat gun until it became malleable. Then bent into shape and cut off excess length. I drilled the base and used mighty mount pegs that I clipped to fit. This worked great for my framing project, just don't know if it will work for you.
Good Luck.

Be careful with those Mighty Mounts, Jeni. A number of framers have experienced mount failures due to crazing and weakening of the plastic over time, with exposure to light.

Formed rods can be formed (by you) to whatever shape needed that will effectively hold the object you are mounting.
