is there any way to do this? I am thinking of gluing a hanger to it is all I can come up with.

are there any better ways?

thanks

Passepartout rings though the backing and attach wire to the rings. Fit the backing into the frame and you are good to go.

What size is the frame and how deep is it?

If it's deep enough, I can imagine making a strainer frame to fit
inside the back and letting that bear the weight. But you'd still
have to find a way to attach them. If it's shallow, how about
attaching it to a solid backing once the piece is in? My best idea
for how to do that would be magic. Maybe someone else has a
better one. How the heck did they come up with one so skinny?

lol.. should have answered all this first, sorry guys

its 5 inches by 5 inches.. .1/8 inch deep maybe a 1/4 wide all together, but the back is 1/8 inch wide to do anything with.

i am going with robs idea to see if i can get that to work... i can't shoot any kind of framer point type thing because the frame will break.

That small I would fashion a single point hanger from the triangle wire in an economy strap hanger and replace the strap with gummed linen tape. Attach to yjr back and hang from a nail. Worked for my Grandparents.

I have hanging on my very own wall a photo in a tiny metal frame about 4" x 6". I strung some pic wire through a piece of matboard and pressure fit it into the frame (on account there are no holes or tabs on the frame). Its been hanging for about 20 years, and been up-and -down maybe 4 or 5 times for moving and painting the wall behind it.

Something that small, just fill up the back of the frame with a rigid backing board and go with command strips instead of hardware. More than enough.

Wow- all these answers and mine is the perfect solution and is what is done in Europe. You guys are making this way too complicated, especially for something that small.

If you don't want to buy a whole box of them, use small single hole "d" rings and then a paper fastener through the hole - though the backing board, split the tabs on the fastener and tape them to the backing with frame lining tape or something equally as strong. For a 5 x 5 it will work fine.

Paper fasteners like these: A Passepartout hanger uses the same type of fastener but also has a small round ring attached to it that is held on by the fastener.

thanks rob, and everyone else. I tried the D ring idea, but used tape to hold it in... using mat board as the backing board. i do like that idea with the button thingy.

im just taping the backing board back to the frame cause anything else i try and the frame will fall apart. they are old and mostly falling apart as it is.
