Hi there ~

Does anyone know where I would be able to get a "hand-held" atg dispenser. I know I've seen pics, but can't find a source. This is a small dispenser, unlike the blue & yellow guns. I'm not sure if it's a 3M product or not.

Just a suggestion: Click on the UNITED banner, and go thru the brief registration process. They are a treasure-trove of framin' stuff!! AND, the 'boss-man' is a Grumbler, too, so he rides herd over what goes on with his company!

United's 'own' ATG gun is only $19.95, in the latest catalog. The fancy, yellow Scotch #700 is only $25.60 Item numbers 4783 and 5700. And yes, this IS a shameless plug for United. They sponsor the board, and are nice folks to do business with.

Deb, Craft stores have a very small one by 3M in their Memory sections. I've used one before, they are very tiny. But I have to say I thought considering the amount of tape you get it is a lot cheaper to get the big guns. I think the advantage of the smaller ones is you can use them with smaller items like photos etc.

Thanks Charles, I checked United for the sm. one, but they don't carry it.

Kathy - I think that's the one I'm looking for, does it work w/3M ATG?

Thank you

Deb, It works with 3M tape but the spools of tape have to be made to fit it, and they are kind of pricey. I got mine at Michael's in their Memory/scrapbooking dept. I have found that 1/4inch atg applied by hand works just as good for those type of things. Hope this helps.

Deb,

Chartpak makes one called the Chartpak Drybond instant tack adhesive system. It only comes with 30 ft. of ATG and it is very pricey compared to the regular ATG guns and the 60 yd. rolls of ATG tape sold by UMS.

Unless you just have to have one for a particular purpose and nothing else will do, I would stay with the 3M models of guns and the large rolls of ATG. You can apply any ATG by hand in rather confined spaces once you try it and get the feel for laying it on.

Kathy, yes, "Scotch" is one of 3M's trade names for products.

The mini-ATG gun that Kathy described is handy, but you have to buy smaller, individually-packaged rolls of tape to fit inside them which are really pricey! The regular sized guns seem to be a better value in the long run. For smaller projects, cutting pieces off a roll by hand works fine.

3M has given out small ATG dispensers at the last several shows. If you're going to be in Atlanta, check them out. I don't know where you would get the rolls of ATG to fit in it (never looked).
