Little ole lady time!

She brings in this frame and says can I cut it down.

Sure ... but it depends on what size are you wanting to make.

62" wide she says.

But right now the frame is only about 35" wide!

Yes but you can join the two long pieces together!

Hmmmm ... how tall are you wanting to make this frame?

As tall as possible. But it doesn't need a bottom.

Uh?

I'm going to put it round my headboard ... along the top and down the sides as far as possible.

So that's what I did. Cut apart the frame, joined the two long legs with a scarf joint, then mitered the ends to size, finally joining two short lengths to make an elongated "U".

She seemed very happy!

Bizarre what some folks get up to!

I had this idea to make several different head boards from picture frames. Think I had about six different designs. My wife would not let me go thru with it. It is going to happen one day, she will be away and come back to a neat head board.

Andrew, when I got to the 35" part of your story I was laughing out loud until I got to your creative solution. Great story.

Over the years we have made a half dozen headboards. Mostly for decorators that would then put padded fabric in the center. The last one was $939 just for the frame (triple stack).

Kirstie, I had the same reaction you had. Very creative. I have to say, never had that request before. Maybe now if I do, I will have some ideas instead of a blank stare on my face. Sometimes in the past I have had a few wacky requests that made me want to ask if I were on Candid Camera.
