Here's one I finished up yesterday. Nothing extremely innovative designwise, but none the less interesting from the perspective of the weight of the frame for the watercolor media used.

The inner liner in the double stack frame is LJ's Mantilla #720660 3 1/8" Gold and the outer frame is Roma's Vintage Raven 6 1/4" Black.

The original size is 21 1/4 X 27 1/4 and the O.D. frame size is 39 1/2 X 45 1/2.

Glazing is TruVue Museum Glass. The mixed media watercolor was painted about 20 years ago on Bainbridge 80XX and is held off the the glazing with Arlo 1/4" black spacers. It is backed with museum board. The rabbet is sealed with mylar rabbet sealing tape. Dustcover is Cambrick cloth ATG'd down per Baer's suggestion and hanging hardware is WallBuddies.

It is also getting a gold leafed wood name plate from Sally at www.thegoldleaf.com

At first pass this heavy of a frame may seem to be too much for a watercolor, but considering the subject matter and the value and importance of the painting it becomes appropriate. The watercolor is by Nathan Greene and is titled "The Carpenter". It is valued conservatively at $ 48,000.

Nice work Dave. I love big beefy frames like that.

Thanks, Dave ...so does my bank account.

:D

I love to see well executed stacked moulding designs like this! It suits the art to a tee. Nice

Great job, Dave. I agree that it suits the artwork.

I was mistaken! Nathan just picked up the frame and it is not a mixed media watercolor but is an oil wash.

He loved it by the way...
