After reading the Cassese story I would like to propose new forum terminology - "Grumble Power". When a suitable Picture Framing problem arrives on the Grumble we should unleash "Grumble Power" with all the strength we can. This amazing power must be used with caution in a positive way such that all parties involved are winners in the end.

Hopefully more and more of our suppliers will become comfortable here as we support each other.

This can be grass roots power at it's best.

This is a terrific forum in many respects: you can express your views on industry conditions; equipment problems; who best represents you or does not represent you and anything else relative to framing. I personally believe that the Grumble is a powerful tool for framers and the related industry. Your suggestion that it could work to save us all some misery is a valid one. I especially appreciate the disagreements that may result from postings and still remain a communicant with the one that is wrong (not me of course).

May the framing "Goddess" smile upon us and give us continued communication and the ability to disagree and still remain friends.

There is a little "behind the scenes" to some Grumble Power.

If we are grumbleing and the vendor is not even aware of it, then it be as effective as a fart in a wind tunnel.

When a Vendor is mentioned, and it is a problem the Vendor can do something about or at least address the problem, I contact the vendor and get thread to the right person.

If they choose to respond or not is a different story.

It was not hard to let Clay know. He is just in The City.

It took a bit of effort but I actually spoke with Alain Casesse (yes, there is a Mr. Casesse!).

It does take a bit of explaining of why posting a response on The Grumble would be a good thing. And that, in general Grumblers are good people (myself excluded, of course).

Come on guys, that's the name of the forum, " The Grumble". This is where we can grumble about most anything we want in our industry. Using it to it's fullest potential just makes common sense.

Going public with a complaint usually will get a response, and a solution. Having this kind of power is a first for our industry. In the old days before we had this, if you had a problem with a piece of equipment or the quality of a mat board or moulding, the standard response was " Your the only one that seems to be having this problem". What blows me away is there are still companies out there that continue to use this idiotic way out of solving their problems.

I remember back a few years ago I was going round and round with a fellow Grumbler. He just had this holier than thou attitude that irked the heck out of myself and at least a few other Grumblers. Now the guy comes across as a darn nice fellow. The Grumble can even change us. I just wish it could change my spelling.

JRB,

Like the way the LaMarche used to say that every other call was answered, and your call was the only one that got put on hold.

Well THIS thread and THIS thread confirmed we were not alone. While the phone issue gets better and worse, someone from LaMarche reads, but they don't/won't post.

On the other hand there are companies like Roma that have come up (like THIS and they respond.

And complaints like THIS (as well as an answer) brought us to the attention of United. They saw the value of the Grumble so much they decided to sponsor it.

But the complaints to Roma and United would be useless if they do not read the "G."

It's kinda like the Doomsday Device in Dr. Strangelove. The Doomsday Device is only useful as a deterent if the ohter side knows you posess it. United would not have known about AJ's grumble had someone brought it to the attention of the right higher up. The same holds for the Roma and Casesse thread.

If a vendor isn't reading, there is probally little they will do.

HOWEVER,
Like you said. THIS IS THE GRUMBLE and often just grumbling with not trying to fix a problem, but just speaking (or grumbleing) about it feels just as good.

I have several reps mention my posts on the grumble in emails to me... since I'm new around here I figured either I made an impression ;) or it could just be the fact that I bring up products not often mentioned by other grumblers.

Jason.

If there are numerous complaints on the grumble from several framers, why not email the thread to the company that is being discussed? I've done this with success on one occasion and it sure got some action (in my favor)!

I hope Marc isn't the only one who FWd complaints to sources. I for one use the "I thought this might be interesting to you" Button very often. In fact when ever i think someone I know can help or address the problem DIRECTLY .Shouldn't we all?
