Dell Launches New Suite of Services for Small and Growing Businesses
Monday December 9, 8:06 am ET
ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 2002--Dell today introduced a new suite of services to help small and growing businesses simplify the task of purchasing, installing and managing computer networks.
The new offering includes services in network design, installation and training, with Dell being the single point of contact for each.
The suite, which is the first of a multi-phase service rollout, adds a variety of end-to-end service options and builds on Dell's existing IT service and support portfolio for small- to medium-sized business (SMB) customers. Beginning in early 2003, Dell will provide SMB customers support for software applications and peripherals manufactured by virtually any vendor, regardless if they were purchased from Dell.
"We've been listening to our SMB customers to identify the services most relevant to their businesses, and deliver these services in the simplest, most convenient way for them," said Frank Muehleman, senior vice president/general manager of Dell's SMB division. "Our services can be customized to meet the requirements of nearly any business."
The three categories of services are:
· Network Design, which assesses the customer's needs, such as the hardware, software and technician time required to build a computing network. Starting at $199, it includes an on-site assessment from a technical expert who will review what's currently in place and outline what is required to design a complete network solution or to deploy a specific hardware configuration.
· Installation, once the network is designed and systems are ordered and delivered. Installation is available for all of Dell's products, including OptiPlex(TM) and Dimension(TM) desktops, Latitude(TM) and Inspiron(TM) notebooks, Dell Precision(TM) workstations, PowerConnect(TM) switches, PowerEdge(TM) servers, PowerVault(TM) storage, and a variety of software and peripherals. For desktop, notebook and workstations, Dell can transfer data from the old systems to the new, as well as install the customer's software on each system during the deployment process.
· Dell's Business Professional Training, which for $99 a year includes online courses for more than 340 applications and is ideal for customers with no IT staff. Businesses with a technical staff can tap Dell for industry certification programs or schedule time with on-site technical experts to provide more in-depth training so they can efficiently and effectively operate their networks once fully deployed.
"I had no technology knowledge and Dell took what little information I could give them and gave us a total package. They are definitely the experts, which allows me to do my job," said Virginia Martin, dentist office manager, Office of Dr. Patrick Brady in Dallas, Texas. "Dell spent a lot of time with me, educating me on the technology and explaining the installation process."
For SMB customers with more complex requirements, they have access to Dell Professional Services for technology consulting, application development, solutions integration and infrastructure systems to design, develop and implement end-to-end technology solutions
