Have a client who wants a 42 3/4 x 62 1/4 poster mounted, laminated and framed. I can only handle 40 x 60 in my vaccum press. The poster can't be trimmed without losing actual picture. Any other options? (Honestly, I am hoping you all will say it's hopeless.) :icon19:

Outsource it to a place that can do it. graphics companies that do large scale projects like billboards, signage, etc should be able to do it, if you can find one in your area.

At least you can make a few bucks off of it for dropping it off and picking it up. Easy.

Easiest thing is to take it to a nearby sign maker or other frame shop that has a roller laminator.

Also double check that it will not fit in your press. Usually they are a bit bigger than the nominal size. i.e. a 40x60 press usually takes something a bit bigger.

I take mine to the digital output company as suggested. They will give you choices of what they can mount it on, and they might be slightly different in cost depending on what you pick. Also they will give you the option of trimming or not. Remember that some of their substrates might be tricky to trim like Mighty or Gator. Best to let them trim that. Do you have a vehicle to transport it back to the shop? They probably offer delivery if you don't. They also might want to charge you tax, so you might have your resale certificate handy. They always say that now and then, it could get messed up, but that has not happened to me yet. Also give 'em a few cards, as they probably work with archititects, engineers, graphic designers....

And make sure you charge your customer for this extra service. The outsource company may charge you $60-$100 for this...and I imagine your drymount charge doesn't cover that added expense.

To extend what Paul said, remember that your glazing, backings, etc. all must be bigger than 40 x 60, so don't price it based on the standard size. Also, will you need to specially reinforce the frame? Just some things to keep in mind so you can actually make a few bucks if you do this job.

And, because of the size, this will probably be a two-person fitting job, and will take longer to fit than normal (thank you, Jay Goltz!!)
