We are not as gifted technologically as many., so this post may be of value only to those like-challenged framers

We recently switched from one visualization software to FrameVue. These transitions can be a little like a cow looking at a new gate

But, one of my bright under 30's kids figured out that when you entered the item number of a moulding or mat on the project that we were working on, it saved that "scan" and we could pull up that "image" by simply entering that SKU. Saving untold time and effort

Don't know if everyone knew this, but it is a bonanza for us

BTW anyone with this tool needs it. There is no more effective closing tool

I can agree with you Bob. The visualization software, no matter what company is just phenomenal. You need it. You can not live without it. It is an amazing closing tool.

just my .02cents

Hey Jerry-We had no problem with the prior company, but we are LifeSaver fans and it's the current default

Although, I must say as we learn the system and all the whistles and bells, we are all liking it much, much more (also the multiple opening option is pretty advantageous)

I must say that I am surprised that no one else is as amazed at the ability to simply type in the mldg number and have that prior "stored" image appear.

It's like dial-up and high speed

what a timesaver!

I think that is a great feature Bob, no messing around taking images of the moulding - should move the sale process much quicker!

my 2 cents

Speaking of FV, a new version came out yesterday. It will probably upgrade you automatically, but otherwise you can open it up and click HELP -> UPDATE FRAMEVUE to force the upgrade.

It has dozens of small tweaks, but here are the highlights:

-Enhanced camera control window with brightness and many other new options. In Configure, set the camera type to the S3 interface if you have an S1, S2, or S3. This will activate the new, optional, interface.

-Canon S3 IS is now supported

-The customer preview/compare feature has been improved. Change Viewing Options -> Slide Show will now give a very large preview of each piece, and you can use the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys to toggle them for the customer.

-A new consumer slide show feature was introduced. You can insert some framing examples directly from the program into it, for display during idle times. You can also make your own slides, or include some of your shop ads or store policies.

-Circle Opening feature improved, Scaling has been greatly improved, LSS Integration is improved, and many other small improvements.

Honestly Bob, just wait until I can convince Framesmart to expand their services to the US (again).

I'm one of the very few lucky enough to get in with those guys before they retreated back to Australia to focus on R&D. They have produced an entire suite of products that are all integrated seamlessly.

What you’re referring to is just the start of what Framesmart perfected about 3 years ago. It’s advanced well beyond that. Now they are ironing out the bugs with real-time visualization and 3D rendering and eliminated the shadows and light reflection problems that most software currently faces.

To avoid sounding like a commercial for them, I'll stop. I just want to tell you that I AM amazed at this. I'm lucky to have gotten to mess with some of this technology years ago. Like the song says "You aint seen nothing yet". And I mean that.

fisheye look

We have the camera (S1) mounted to a 10 foot ceiling over our 3 1/2 foot tall counter/design area. Is there anything I can do to elininate the fisheye look of the pictures taken for FrameVue?

Frame Vue has more features than I currently know how to use, but I'm adding them to my framing design repertoire as fast as I can.

Showing side-by-side comparisons with consistent art size, instead of the same outside perimeter, is huge.

Customers love this visualization revolution.

Technology, such as visualization software, comes out before it is well developed and needs constant work. It's great when there is competition and quick advances in the software. Unfortunately Wizard's "Integrated Framer" software which needs a lot of improvement, has been left behind as they work on a new suite of software.

Did you know that New Jersey/Delaware Valley PPFA will be having a Lifesaver Software meeting at M&M on Sunday July 15th? You can view "FrameVue" in a relaxed atmosphere, and even have some refreshments. Great doorprizes too! More details will follow as we get closer to the date. This is to take place of the February meeting that was cancelled due to the weather. Please RSVP to njppfa@hotmail.com.

wall color in framevue

FrameVue is progressing very well.
You know how people will bring in paint chip colors of their living room? One thing FrameVue does is "grab" a wall color in the 'define' image tab. When you press the button a popup will ask if you want to 'select a color from the image'? and you say YES. Then move crosshair over the paint sample and click to use for the wall color.

Oh and when you download the update go to the camera under configuration and put a check on the canon s3 ...even if you have the s1 or s2 canon.

Why do you want to do that? I just downloaded the update and selected the S2 just because that's what I had.

The S3 interface has some additional camera control features, and will work with many other models. In this version, the goal is to test it with a smaller group of folks (folks that own the S3).

But, feel free to turn it on by telling it you have the S3. Folks with S1 and S2 models have reported positive results.

Would you be able to theoretically load an image of all of your moulding (and mat board) samples with their bar code and then whenever you had a customer, all you would have to do is scan the bar code and the image is already in the memory?

It seems that should work if it automatically saves the image you are currently using.

I know it would be time consuming but then so was asigning bar codes to all of the samples I already have.

The joys of these programs is that once you FINALLY get all of your info in there, it is a snap to use, right?
