Great Cards / Gifts

j Paul ...I use to sell Blue Mountain Arts along with other various lines of cards. They sold well however something always puzzled me...

My main business at the time was artist materials. I always thought that if I was selling to creative people that blank cards with great images would sell the best.

WRONG!

The best selling cards were always birthday cards followed by seasonal, anniversary, lovey dovey and any other cards with the sayings already printed in them.

People are basically lazy and can't come up with their own words.

Most card companies will quite willingly trade out any greeting cards for replacement inventory when they come out with new ones or seasonal send backs.

I agree with Dave. We sell some different lines and the blank ones do not sell. They are all in a basket at 50% off. Birthday, anniversary, wedding, engagement, sympathy...no blanks!

I do pretty well with a line of blank note cards designed by a local artist.
They are all stylized prints made from her paintings of cats.

People come in and see the cards and ... "oooh, that looks just like <your cat's name here>" then they buy them.

I think the "secret" is just to have images that people want.

Yea, I found out a long time ago, blanks don't sell.

Blue Mountain has some really nice verses and some handmade quality cards. The "other" things they have besides cards though are very impressive.

I first found them, because I was searching for more products by "Suzy Toronto" who sells very well for us. We have a large selection of her framed and mounted prints and her book. We have just taken on more of her 3-D artwork as well. Figurines and plaques, canvas prints and signs.

The Suzy Cards all have verses in them and I know they will sell in our store.
