News released today about the much-anticipated cost of the superspeed Google Internet connections in KCK. Pretty expensive if they're trying to pry you away from Time-Warner, Comcast, SureWest, or ATT U-Verse. TV package and super fast Internet with tons of storage runs about $120. per month. However, the TV package doesn't include ESPN, and most importantly, most of the cable news networks, nor if I remember, any premium channels like HBO which would add to the cost.

I must be missing something. Are they aiming at business networking or what? In addition, apparently they won't hook you up alone: you have to talk your neighbors into it to reach a certain percentage of the area. Now I KNOW I'm missing something. :)

They have to lay new fiber optic cable in neighborhoods. They want to start where customer interest justifies cost. I understand that the "super fast Internet" alone is $70 month - probably a good deal for the speed. You would have to look at the TV/DVR/bundling packages more closely to see if they are competitive. The $120 figure might be a base package.

That sounds about twice as high as the promotional packages offered by the locals here for TV (less premium channels), phone, and internet. (Cox Cable, ComCast Cable, Verizon Fios, etc)

The TV package is the most baffling: no ESPN, Disney, AMC, HBO, nor any major cable news channels. It does include local broadcast stations, Discovery, MTV. But those are a spit in the ocean of all the stuff the others provide. If you want lots of TV, this might be it.

You do get a Nexus 7 with the deal, though. ☺

Regular pricing on a bundles package from Uverse (ATT) or Xfinity (Comcast) including Pemium TV with DVR and on demand, voip phone with unlimited long distance in USA and Canada, and high speed internet is a bit over $250.00 a month after all the taxes and such. I bounce back and forth between the two every 2 years or so keeping those "low" inroductory prices. Right now I have Xfinity and I'm locked in to their pricing (about $140/mos) for 2 years. Fiber optic cables were put in by Cox Cable years ago.
