This sounds like a question that had to be answered here many times already, but I couldn't find anything.

Where do you get paper bags from? We're looking for normal, simple brown paper bags in various sizes (from small ones for greeting cards to large ones like what used to be standard at the supermarket, with a few sizes in between). We're looking for the impossible combination of great price, good quality and low volume. We don't need anything fancy, so handles aren't necessary. And I have no place to store millions of them at once. A few hundred at a time is about right.

This has been driving us nuts.

Thanks!

We have used them for over 25years they have been around for over 50 years. Fast turnaround time.
I like the mix series paper bags (you never know what pattern you get until it arrives) not that much more then the plain brown bags. Customers always comment on them..

W G Ellerkamp is a good source for bags. I use the Buy Local bags, and they are only available in 2 different sizes, but Ellerkamp does make other bags. They were cheap, but not too pricey for the Buy Local message.

We buy Local. Yes, there is a local source here in a 35,000 pop. town. I don't care if there are cheaper sources. How can we expect people to buy from us locally if we don't buy from other local businesses?

Steve Peterboro NH is local to you isn't it? I mean, it isn't like it's Georgia or Texas. Just jump on 202, or 123 and you're there in an hour. Go to the Toadstool Bookstore while you're there :)

Baer, those links are local, but they don't sell paper bags. He could stock up on urinal cakes, but I don't see any paper bags :)

Obviously you didn't call them.

They stock that standard size grocery bag.... but can get what ever
he wants... in about 2-3 days.

Now back to the Marine mints...... we usually found it was the Airedales
that were using them as suppositories.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I looked up pricing for 3 different sizes of bags from all the suggested sources and am strongly leaning toward N. E. Paper & Supply (thanks Baer!). Pricing is very good; there's an actual real live human being you can talk to there; and I like that it's a small, local business. WOO HOO!

Thanks again.

No problem Steve.

The guy was really nice, and he was getting ready to refer me to a couple
of people here in Portland . . but I stopped him and explained that I worked
a short few weeks for Merchant Paper here, and knew what to google for
you.... and find the right person.

The other two weren't as nice.... more BB-ish... not your kind of person,
or the kind that I would refer to.

A few doors away we have the most amazing dessert store. I'll take any excuse to go visit! They get in paper supplies on a regular basis, so if I just need one or two items, the owner will add in my item to his delivered order. Also we have split the minimum amount of paper bags since we both sell small quantities of small gift items like cards.... One other thing that I have the dessert store order for me is white kraft paper. It's great for wet mounts as there are very few particles in the paper, like brown kraft.

A customer brought in a couple of portraits from a local photographer to have framed and they came in this bag. Don't know where the bag came from but pretty neat.
