Boy oh boy do I have a great question to share with y'all! A man phoned today to see if I carried gold leaf and would I sell him one sheet. I asked if he wanted composition or real gold. He wants real gold. I have some extra, I will sell it to him. I asked what he was planning to do with one sheet of gold leaf.

Get this, he wants to leaf one of his teeth for part of his Halloween costume. I asked if he was going as a pimp (the words flew out of my mouth!). Luckily he laughed, but he would not reveal his costume plan or rationale.

I asked him how he planned to adhere the leaf, and he did not know. I figure liquid acrylic adhesive would be out, and spray is obviously out. I told him to ask a dentist. He thought that was a great idea, but he also thought beeswax might work.

Any suggestions??? He's coming by tomorrow to buy the sheet of leaf so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you have no suggestions, just have a good laugh. I know I did.

I don't have any suggestions for you but sure would like to know how he adheres it and what his costume is.
Also how would he know to call a framer for this?

WOW! Another application for beeswax !
I love it.

IT would work. All he needs is a little piece of wax. Chew it up so it is soft. Then he molds it to his tooth. then he takes it off his tooth and applies the gold leaf.
Now he has a gold cap.

I think I learned something from my orthodontist all those years of braces.

You know where your sources for wax is now.

This is so fun!

Gosh, I have 80 pounds of beeswax, so I can sell him some of that, too! ;) I figure he called frame shops trying to find someone who uses gold leaf...

Do not worry, I will try very hard to EXTRACT a description of his costume.

He tried the art supply store first but they wanted $42 for a whole package, and even with practice runs, he sure doesn't need much. I love this job!

Hey Darryl, Welcome to the Grumble - AT LAST!!!

Hmmm, Rub'n'Buff. I think that stuff probably tastes pretty awful and it is probably toxic (as a foodstuff).

Thanks for the ideas...
