I am reframing some 45rpm singles for a client who had some water damage in his game room. The 45s were glued in the original package and are therefore already damaged in that regard and the client has zero interest in preservation. So I'm planning to just reglue them.

My questions are:

Would Lineco's PVA glue be a strong enough bond for a 45?

Will it bond well enough to the vinyl? Well, I guess it'll be glued to the label more than anything.

I'm thinking yes for both but I don't have enough experience with non-preservation mounting to say for sure. I don't want to use hot glue in fear of melting the record (as one old thread had mentioned). The whole silicone debate about longevity and off-gassing geeks me out too.

So, what do you all think about Lineco PVA for this application?

I've use the Lascaux 498 PVA adhesive to glue vinyl records down. No problems ...I would weight it overnight though.

I like the records raised off the matboard a bit. I usually glue (PVA) some shims of foamcore to the record and then glue the foamcore to the matboard.
