Instead of ATG Tape, i have been using Franks's Fabric Adhesive for just about everything, like mats, paper backing, foam board, etc. (i use Titebond for wood mouldings). I was about to order more Frank's Fabric Adhesive (I use about 2 gallons a year), but i opened an account with UMS, just received a catalog and i saw "UMSCO Fabric Adhesive" (#2912) on page #68. Does anyone use this instead of Frank's? Any difference in the two? Any idea what the shelf life is? Thanks for any info or suggestions.

I have used a number of fabric glues, Franks is one of the best. Buy it now cause most do not ship when the temperature gets too low.

Like you, MitchelC, I use Frank's for near everything except joining frames. I did get a sample of Frame Specialties Dust Cover Glue to try but I really see no difference between it and Frank's Fabric Adhesive as far as applying dust covers.

The main advantage of bonding items with Frank's is that you can remove them easily. If you use ATG to bond surfaces it is near impossible to pull them apart without destroying them.

Just a few dabs of Frank's will do ya' and then it is a simple matter to separate items when needed. To make things even easier you can slightly warm the surface with a heat gun or in the press and items come right apart.

I have a gallon jug of United's Fabric Adhesive. Granted, it's been sitting for quite a spell, but under excellent temperature conditions, and tightly capped. I tried to pour it out into my new glue applicator from Rockler, only to have a "mass" of thick, thick, thick glue ooze slowly out. Is there a solution to getting it flowing again, or do I have a wet brick on my hands?

I would use distilled water for this - from a fresh bottle - any contamination from microorganisms and you will end up with moldy glue.

After using other fabric glues and then trying Frank's - I would never use any other fabric glue BUT Frank's! It is superb and it works on leather! I love it! And it works on modern ribbon not made out of traditional natural materials. LOVE IT!!!

Also love the dust cover glue - just restocked my supply after going thru the sample bottle.

These are my two favorite glues!

I've been using LaminAll from McDonald Photo Products (a division or Tara Materials) for 30 years now. Use it wet or heat activated and it is very similar to Franks. Since I buy Fredrix canvas from Tara I bought a case of 4 one gallon bottles at a huge discount. It is shipped undiluted so you add water to it but most of the time I just pour it out of the gallon bottle in it's original state.

Mounting fine fabrics requires it to be thinned down but for mounting canvas it is easy to just pour and roll it out. It can be used to mount glossy photo papers such as RC or Luster. Very versatile stuff but last for a very long time. Clumps disolve easily in water and I just add a little to the jug and shake it until they are gone.

I love the smell of Laminall! And I always use it straight out of the bottle - the last bottle I got had so much tape wadded up all over it the instructions were obliterated.
