Hi all

I'm using colormont tissue adhesive for mounting purposes. problem is the foam overlay has been contaminated with streaks of glue ( colormount) somehow.. and its been transfered to the pictures while laminating. Is there any way of cleaning foam overlay and the pictures.srry I forgot to mention its Bengfeng 4468 I'm using.

its been transfered to the pictures

Define "pictures" - are you saying there is colormount on top of the laminate surface or on the "pictures"?

If the colormount is on the top of the laminate, Naptha should take it off. Use a cotton swap and gently roll the Naptha on. As the adhesive softens you should be able to remove it. Then, run the print through another cycle with the foam to retexturize the laminate.

If it is on top of the "pictures" - it depends on what kind of "pictures" they are.

PEC 12 will take it off of RC photographs. BUT, if they are inkjet prints you are SOL :(.

How did the colormount get on the foam overlay? Aren't you making your laminate LARGER than your mounted object?

I find that once the surface of the foam overlay is damaged in any way, it transfers that damaged surface to the laminate and makes an irregular pattern. So, even if you can remove the adhesive, it may make an irregular area from now on.

Unless you are mounting a non porous paper, please share why you elected to use Colormount?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply..Actually I am mounting posters on foamcore..i do overcut laminate to cover adhesive but accidently it was exposed once and spoiled overlay..I do not know any other cost effective alternative to this to use in my press.. i donot like wet glues for mounting..and.fromwhere I can get naptha..

thanks once again

ok......why are you using a foam overlay with colormount??

A simple sheet of release board would do the job....just trim the colormount to the exact size of the poster.........and tack it in place...
put a sheet of release board on top of it

There ya go..........easy peasy......if the colormount gets on the release
board.....you just use unseal to get it off!

She is also LAMINATING - so the foam is necessary.

but still Rob...........foam overlay for reg drymounting?
I've been drymounting for 13 years.....
I have NEVER in my life used or ever even wanted to use the foam for that......
Foam is used specifically for laminating..........unless the colormount was on the poster BEFORE you started laminating? I have no friggin clue what ur doing!

There was some extra tissue sticking out after mounting and the laminate was laid on that. Laminate didn't fully cover the excess.

I am doing dry mounting and laminating in single step. so think foam is necessary..tissue is usually cut shorter than the laminate but accidently it was exposed..I think I have to order new foam overlay..naptha i am going to buy now.. is there any cold lamination film available in market for vacuum press ..jus curious..

Thanks to all for your inputs..

Google Sign Supply USA and you will find every option you could imagine. They have changed names to Proveer but comes up either way.
