Where do you get the glass samples? The ones to show the customer the difference during the design process. They have a black edging around them. I've seen them at places but not sure where I can get them...thanks!

You know...I don't know why I didn't think of that! I guess my brains over worked lately..I'm working solo now...moving my shop..and business is booming!! But I'm not complaining...I'm just @*#% tired!!! Have a great week ;)

I made my own using scrap glass. I sanded the edges and taped them using clear tape. My question to all is, do you show glass samples on the mats during a consultation to show how much of a change the glass is going to make?

Rather than plop different glass samples over a mat and risk breaking the glass, I refer to a display similar (I think) to the ones that you can get from TruVue.

I started with a small poster with a dark background over which there are strips of regular, non-glare, and AR. The piece is triple matted to exaggerate the fuzzy effect of the non-glare, and placed fairly near gallery spot lights to enhance the glare of the lights onto the pane of regular glass.

I framed it with an inexpensive metal moulding.

I don’t particularly like promoting brand-names (like TruVue, L-J, etc.) in our shop, so under each piece of glazing there is simply the legend, "Regular", "Non-glare", and "Anti-Reflective".

I use the tassel display and framed gallery models framed with optically-coated glass and acrylic.

I usually avoid placing the glass samples directly on the customer's artwork on the table. Aside from the possibility of damage, the direct overhead lighting is the worst for uncontrolled reflections. We want to demonstrate normal display conditions, and normal display conditions are not like that.

I have a 3 glass type display provided by Nielsen - 3 keys double matted in black and mounted onto black.

It stands on the counter and a lot of customers don't realise there is any glass in the centre at all, out of those that do I'd say that 50% ask for a price on it before I get to mention it.

I have also made 6 x 6 with different glass and mat options Taped together.
CC glass 1 mat 1/8 fc
RC glass 1 mat 1/8 fc
Museum 1 mat 1\8 fc
cc 2 mat 3\16 fc
and so on also helps to determine if the fame is deep enough

Double duty display

I have made a display that serves two purposes. The right hand side of the frame shows UV clr, the left has museum glass. Also on the left side is a cut through display showing all of the layers of an archival frame job. Rag mat top, image paste hinged, two ply rag, eight ply backer, and AF dust seal. Also visible is the book hinge on the left side and in one small section the frame sealing tape. It adds to the impact when a cusomer reaches to touch the layers and is stopped by the museum glass.
I have sold alot of museum glass with that display.
