I have a GREAT customer that just cracks me up everytime she comes in.
I wouldnt say she's a femminist.... but she takes no Krap from any man.. including her way cute husband. :D

My customer has another home on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in WI.... they spent 2years laboring and refinishing this lodge like home... INCLUDING a finished basement.
The story goes....
The husband was doing something in the basement..... and happened to lean something <not sure what> along the newly installed copper piping....
They come home after the weekend... the next weekend they go back up to WI...... and find they have a swimming pool where their nice wood lined walls and hand sanded planking floor used to be.......

So.... my customer decides to frame his MISTAKE..........
I did this for them a couple years ago.....

SEE SHADOWBOX #2

Story #2........ My customer returns last week...... with a garden hose....
To which was hooked up outside by said husband..... and left on..... for the week...... un~beknowest to the homeowners......
Who came back up...... to find the window well completely full of water as well as their newly 2nd redone basement!!!!!! BTW..... they tell me they had the greenest grass ever this year too!! LOL

NOTE the worn and OBVIOUS hole in the hose.......... :D
SEE SHADOWBOX #1.... for some reason it uploaded backwards.......

Of course the previous frame was DISCONTINUED..... but she wanted the same mats as the first........ what can I say... I love her sense of humor..... I even threw some museum glass on both for free!

I HOPE he doesn't continue to have a wall of shame!! But I just love the stories with these!!!

Oh....... so attaching....... for anyone that wants to know......

The pipe I did with mylar strips....... but the customer wanted to hang it vertically......... so I had to switch it and do the strip through the WHOLE length of the pipe.......

As for the hose......... I used the ATTACH~Ez!!!!!! It really can mount anything!! 1 little strip of mylar around the metal part..... EASY PEASY! ;)

Maybe the hubby should start framing her framing receipts!

Nice job by the way, you get the crazies projects!

Love it!

Randy when I read your comment, instead of receipts I read recipes :) Boy do I have some recipes I'd like out of the book in in a frame.... ;)

Love it. As Baer has often said we are story tellers. While these don't tell the whole story on their own, they sure will get the conversation going.

THanks guys.......
I dont know.... she said he did.... I believe her.... :D

He really is the nicest guy though..... she cracks me up cuz she gives him such a hard time and he just looks at her and says... "I love you babe" as he's laughing!

Nice thread, er, pipes.

I love framing for fun people.

:D

If it was winter.... I would say his pipe burst from being frozen..

But if it was summer... it would be the same as it happened to me in Los Angeles
where it never freezes or rains.

he leaned some steel up against the copper pipe. The electrolysis of the two
dissimilar metals and the water happened on the inside...... the pipe weakened
until the 65psi can push it through.

As Dave noted... great stories, and even better story telling.

Nicole, I've thought about these designs a few times since first
seeing the thread. You have such a great eye for design, and
I like how they look like found artifacts. Like things from a lost
civilization.

I have no clue about such things, but it looks to me like
the pipe burst from the inside, too.

When a rock forced itself into my waterline and burst the pipe a few years back, for the $800 it cost to have it dug up and repaired, I had the guy bring me the danged rock. He hand carried it down the entire length of the driveway - it weighs about 25 pounds, so, no - I did not frame it - but it is another storied addition to my rock collection.

THanks kids! I framed the copper pipe first with that design in mind......
Would not and was not my choice for the 2nd..... but she wanted them to somewhat match!

I told her she needed a trio to hang on the wall to make a REAL statement....
I ask her...... "What else has he broke??" LOL
She says...... "Besides my pocketbook? ".....

I love it that they have no wording.... no title...... nothing....... just a little reminder.... :D That he will seee........... EVERYDAY... :D Makes me giggle everytime I think about it!

Is that like the TGIF you have branded in all of your shoes?

Nicole, I knew there was a funny story behind the garden hose. Great job of making a simple garden hose and copper pipe look like expensive art. It probably was for your customer, but it sounds like she can afford it. We could all use a couple of hundred of those kind of customers. Have a Merry Christmas.

Well, I believe Hubby can now Brag that he has, a, GREAT SET OF PIPES!! Very nicely done Baby Girl. Randy J.

Awesome job as always, Nicole! Can't say I have framed a pipe or hose - I also can't believe the Attach-EZ worked on the hose. Amazing.

Great job on both items, Nicole. I loved hearing about the stories behind the items. That is really what makes shadow boxes so appealing to me - the stories I hear.
