I just had a guy call wanting "gallery wrap mirror edge" What is that?

Thanks for your help.

That is where the last 2" of the print are "mirrored". The entire image is on the face and then mirrored portion is on the edges.

It works best with fairly undefined edge patterns. As you know, whether
mirroring or not, trying to stretch something that has a sharp line or stripe
at the edge can be tricky, especially when a canvas stretches more one
way than the other.

If your gallery stretcher bars are 2 inches deep, mirror the outside 2 inches. Perhaps add a quarter inch to stretch around the back.

We routinely ask the printer to make it easy on us to stretch gallery wraps.

The printer we use had a problem with the final measurement, so take care when working out the final dimensions of the piece and the mirrored edges.

Our guy also prints black lines on the remaining white canvas, out past the edge
of the images, signifying where the center of the mirroring falls. Makes it easier
to measure for the stretcher bars, just going from line to line.
