One company is called Donjer Products Corporation but I don't know how to reach them. their product is called Suede-Tex and its Rayon. Some of their products are sold by Lee Valley Tools.

Le, try a taxidermist. We have a company near here who ships and sells internationally and I know they did carry it, not sure about the purple. It's called VanDykes Supply, 605-796-4425 Fax # is 796-4085. I doubt they have minimums. Recently sold to Cabellas but I think the name is the same.

For the uninitiated: What is flock? (Never know when one might want some of whatever it is.) To Merps Mom: Try to resist any ad hoc connections with floozies in your answer, if any.

Mel, you've been reading my mind

Terry's initial entry into that area was so funny that's it's hard to top it: but we're trying! Perhaps we should just let sleeping ones lie? oh, dear, I'll work on it.

Mel, here we go again. Honestly I'd never heard of it either until a neighbor used it. I could have sold him suede board and have been nicer for his job, actually he had more money in it. Basically a bit like flocking a tree. Only you buy this stuff and the can etc. to mix it in and spray it on. A bit fuzzy.....reminded me a little of the paper they use on train boards. I'm sure it's nicer. Guess you have to be a horse person to want it. oooops or football fan maybe! So for oversized jobs and displays it will probably be great.

Mel, Flocking is like little bitty hairs that you glue to a backing of some sort. The result looks and feels like suede. Floozies would probably be more attracted to peacock hurl or white Ibis tailfeathers.

This will be my third attempt to reply to this. Maybe I better take the hint and forget it. The last attempt was getting a bit, um, well, I was just typing in something about the cyberpolice getting after me when the thing told me I had, indeed, performed an illegal operation and was promptly shut down. Anyway, I guess we'll let the sleeping floozies lie around as we left them. By the way, did anyone ever explain mollies to Terry?

Hi Mel,
Yes they did , by my understanding (don't correct me if I'm wrong) a mollie is a gold or black fish you screw into walls?

Am definitely more interested in Floozies (my wife says thats my only failing - actually she said it was one of many but she exagerates)

Now Mel, don't tell me you leave your discarded floozies lying around too. Is this sort of thing rife in the industry or are you two just more advanced? Was that illegal operation that brought you to the attention of the cyber police in any way connected to floozies? Would really like to know as if this is another skill I have to perfect as part of my professional developement, it would give my wife no grounds for complaint.

With the exorbitant cost of floozies, I believe they have to make do with flocking (so I've heard I'm not speaking from personal experience here you understand) The ibis feathers sound promising though. Could make for an interesting training video - "Framers, Floozies, Flocking and Feathers", can't wait to see that one.
Terry

PS Please forgive my persistance but I cant get floozies off my mind. I'm grappling with them, trying to get a firm grasp so to speak. Once I get to the bottom of them I can move on to the next skill. And I'll even promise that they will never maybe cross my lips again.

Terry: Tenacity is paramount in this business, all (but your wife) who read will admire. The feathers addition really tickles me (collective cyberspace groan). Next question, should this a be team-taught class? Our local community college actually teaches team-roping with the guys (yes, only guys) wearing those backless leather things. Wonder if there may be some transferable teaching material there?

I'm a little concerned about the fork in the road you people seem to be taking. On the other hand, that team-sport thing has some merit. If you tie in roping, that could lead to flinging, then you'd have to answer the question of how many floozies a feather-flocking framer could fling--in chaps. Did chaps get their name because only GUYS wear them? Or shall we wander on down that road? from the rear, of course.

I'm glad no one has got into a play on words on the original item in this column - Flock.
That could be dangerous.

Gosh MM (I hope you dont mind that familarity) I dont know, just how many floozies can a fleather-focking flamer fling? Try saying that 6 times quickly. So if your taking nominations, put me on a team. Not the one with the chaps though, Ive already told you where my preferences lie. Which team would you be on, the one with the chaps or the ropes?

Scarfinger even I wouldn't touch that one. Mind you I did think about it.

JPete my wife says the same thing. Often.

I dont know about any forks (dammit, another f) but I have noticed the tone of the grumble has lowered recently. Im sure I don't know who to blame! Perhaps it should now be the Picture Framers Giggle.

I wonder If I've hurt my chances of getting into the TOF in any way? Have I tarnished my reputation as a SERIOUS framer?

Le I bet you got a little bit more info than you bargained for when you asked such a provocative question. Tell me how many pitchers do you flame a week. Do you dislike baseball that much?

Seriously, Le, did you find the flocking? The possibilities stagger. Supports for items in a shadow box need not be appropriate, attractive, or hidden. Just create the support, and flock, and it appears to be formed suede. Am I correct? Is this one, big DUH?

I haven't had time to look for the flocking flock. I've been busy trying to find my november bank statement so I can get my sales tax in on time and call the accountant before he calls me about taxes. Does Lee Valley Tools have a website?
