Have you ever finished a piece and wanted to just "hang out" with it all day? That's me with this latest embroidery.
The stitcher pricked her finger and bled on the white canvas only like 1/2" from the stitches, so she asked around and found out I can do custom mat openings.
We drew up a quick sketch and just for the heck of it, added a little flourish to accentuate the shape of the wedding announcement.
After designing it in trace, the design didn't want to explode nicely for the second layer, so I copy/pasted it, resized, and tweaked the flair again to look right. At the end of the day, it ended up pointing in a different direction which was amplified by the fact that the bottom layer was an 8 ply and the top was a 4 ply reverse bevel. It irked me a little at first, but the more I looked at it, the more I fell in love. She said the bride loves vintage aesthetic, and I think we nailed it between the frame, silk mat, and the mat opening. The shape reminds me of an old door handle plate. Here's to opening the door on a new chapter in this couple's life!

Bah Humbug....................(just kidding). I second Ylva's emotion. I like how the colors in the mat and frame draw you to the same colors in the embroidery. Tell the stitcher to bleed some more and give you some more to do.

And tell here to put dibs on it in case of d-i-v-o-r-c-e or not.

There's a future family heirloom.
Very.
Nice.
Job.

That’s perfection. I could never have carried that out.

Aww shucks, guys. Been going through alot lately. It's nice to hear everyone likes it as much as I do!
Just amazing MB.👏
What is that top mat? I like it quite a bit.
I don't have the ID in front of me, but it is Bainbridge tatami silk "tourmaline"... one of my favorite soft teals and textures!
