I tryed doing a search but couldn't find anything.:help:

I had a customer call and ask if we carried frosted glass. I told her that we have Non-glare. She said no, she was told it needed to be "frosted" glass.

She bought a print from the Thomas Kinkade Gallery and they told her that they have "frosted" glass and she said it made thier prints look like an oil painting. The lady at the TK told her it wasn't NG and that she was to ask for "frosted" glass.:faintthud:

I told her I didn't know of such a animal and she is calling TK back to ask where she can find it.

Do any of you know what it is?

She is suppose to call me back and let me know what she says. I really felt stupid. I've been framing for 20 years and I've never heard of the stuff.

I've seen frosted glass on shower doors and bathroom windows. Maybe she should go to a Bathroom/Shower glass place. As for myself, clear is the only way to go. I want to see if some Psycho is coming in the bathroom door while I shower. And no, my hubbie's name is not Psycho.:icon9:

A TK improvement?

Like Amy said, seems like it would be harder to see through...works for me! ;)

Good Choice

Yes, this is the only type of glass to use on a Kincade.

I'm pretty sure that whatever "know-it-all" was advising her meant non-glare but was misinformed as to the terminology. (We call it "reflection control" now anyway). If she really wants frosted glass, I suppose you could mist it with water and leave it in a walk-in freezer overnight.
 Rick

Try a stained glass store near you. I have ordered glass with a ripple in it to use in shadow boxes to give the illusion of being under water (high cool factor). Most stained glass stores work with designers and usually have samples of frosted, rippled, wavy, even some with bubbles in it to give an antique feel. Good luck!

That HAS to be nonglare. It has a very frosted/distorted look.

Jerome...
Based on the link you gave us, I whole heartedly agree... frosted glass is THE glass for any TK print!!:faintthud:

My opinion is that the TK Salesperson wanted the customer to get etched, non-glare glass and not the reflection control glass which has a coating on it. Probably because the people working there putting frames together can't tell the difference between the front and back of the RC Glass!

The salesperson, I feel, was just trying to upsell the customer and make more money. Had no idea what the difference in the materials she was quoting was, just upselling to pad the order.

It this were a customer of mine then the customer won't call back and would probably have lost some respect for my framing knowledge because she will percieve that the TK Salesperson knows more than I do! On the plus side I wouldn't have to frame another TK masterpiece!

The NG, with triple matting, would make the work look better but only because you won't be able to see it due to the haze!

The glas from Rockler looks pretty cool, might have the desired effect, but I'd get it from a local stained glass source. 32 by 40 sheet would be $128 plus shipping!

:vomit:

sorry, my bad.

Heh heh

:vomit:

sorry, my bad.

I had to fight with myself not to do it! :p
Jennifer, I know we haven't been much help, but I for one have enjoyed this thread and the light hearted banter so much!

I love the Grumble!
