Free $100 from Home Depot

Please do not frankenthread this into a love/hate thread about Home Depot. They sell plenty of things I use and they just GAVE me a free $100, so I thought I would let you in on how to do it.

They have a COMMERCIAL credit card account with no annual fee and some excellent terms if you want to use the credit card. BUT, if you just APPLY for the card, they will give you a certificate good for a $100 discount off of a purchase of $100 or more. You don't even have to use the credit card to make the purchase! You don't even have to keep the card.

The application process took less than 5 minutes. You do need a "tax ID number" but you can also just use your social security number. They will also send you 10% discount coupons periodically.

I just purchased an excellent BOSCH driver that was $129, less the $100 for $29. And, I put it on my Starwood Amex card so I could get Starpoints.

Seth, if it was in the last 30 days (and I KNOW you have the receipt) you can take it back to HD no questions asked.

And to sweeten the pot... if you can find the same item for even a penny cheaper somewhere else that you can walk in the door that day and buy... when they ring it up, they will ring it at that price, and the register/computer automatically will take off an additional 10% for their "Meet and Beat" policy. ALWAYS.
Shop around, it's not that hard to find a better price... and sometimes its just a pricing policy of ending things in an eight instead of a nine = $9.98 instead of $9.99. That can result in a final price of $8.99.

Rob. you can take yours back now.... Lowe's had them onsale for $127.

Menards had treated 4x4's on sale for $1.95. Took the ad to HD, they matched the price (normally $6.87) but didn't add the 10%. That's ok. I was a happy camper to save $5/post. Really added up. Plus I saved a lot of gas by shopping closer.

Here's another:

Citibank has a $100 gift card offer (10,000 Thank You Points= 1 $100 card) when you sign up for their Citi Professional Card.

It gives 3% back for gas, restaurant, auto rental, and office supply store purchases. It gives 1% back for anything else. 0% apr for 9 months if making a big purchase, like a CMC.
