Can anyone recommend a good framing school, hopefully in the southern part of the US, I'm located in Southern Arkansas. I would like to open a framing shop but am new to the trade and would like to attend some classes on the subject if at all possible. I've looked on the web, but so far have not really ran across that much.

Roger:
Join Professional Picture Framers Association, based in Richmond, Virginia. Also, subscribe to DECOR Magazine and PICTURE FRAMING Magazine. All of these are excellent sources for framing courses, books and breaking news & new developments in our business. I don't think anyone should try to be in the framing business without all three of these important sources of information.

RMD FRAMING SCHOOL IN CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA. HEAD INSTRUCTOR IS DAMRON OWEN. THE SCHOOL COVERS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO GET STARTED IN THE FRAMING BUSINESS. ALL THE INSTRUCTORS GIVE YOU THEIR NUMBER SO THAT YOU CAN CALL THEM WITH ANY QUESTIONS FREE OF CHARGE. THE COURSE WAS ABOUT $400.00 AND THE SCHOOL WILL SEND YOU A LIST OF HOTELS TO STAY AT AND WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE HOTEL. THE COURSE IS 5 DAYS LONG FROM 8A.M. TO 5P.M. I HAVE JUST TAKEN THE COURSE IN FEBRUARY AND CAN TELL YOU THAT YOUR MONEY WILL NOT BE WASTED.

Roger: my guess is you'd like to consider first framing schools in your area, if there are any. To find out I'd suggest the following: Call PPFA National and see what they know. Also contact DECOR and PFM. Then, if you can, ask moulding reps who come to your area. And, although it's a long shot, check the Internet. It's possible you'll find some leads there.

Good Luck. I think you're smart to want to be more educated. We can all use more of that!

Personally OJ I need to win POWERBALL tomorrow. It would make for a fine day!
