What is the best method of securing a flag to the backer board when framing in a shadowbox? The flag I will be working on has been folded in the traditional manner and it is quite thick.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

If your not "traping" it within a flag type, triangle frame, I think your best option is to sew it in position. You will need a long, thin needle and use 100% cotton thread. You will have to hide your stiches under the top fold of the flag. When you are finished, make sure NO red shows anywhere, that's called a "bleeding flag" and is a big no no.

I am in the process of mounting a 3'X 5' cotton flag on black fabric to place in a shadow box. I am using red, white & blue cotton thread and taking small hidden stitches. I am then mounting the black fabric on 1/2" rigid board. I haven't decided yet how I will attach the fabric to the back of the rigid board. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cherry

Use "Yes Paste" , roll an even coat on the backboard with a short knap paint touch up roller. Lay your fabric face down on a clean table, lay the glued up backboard onto the fabric, taking care to line up the grain with the edge of the board. Turn the whole thing over & smooth out the fabric. Let it dry for at least a few hours.
