OK, I posted a question on HH asking who would like to do a cruise and I got a lot of response so we are headed to sea. We'll have fun, learn and relax, all at once.

Oct 1-8, 2005
Holland America, to the Mexican Riviera
Cabo San Lucas
Mazatlan
Puerto Vallarta
with three days at sea.
We'll do one hour round table type of classes while we are at sea such as:
FACTS Roundtable/ Preservation issues
Design/ Challenges, Solutions
Framing Competitions/ Enter & Win
Mat Decoration/ Provide the custom touch
And much more

We leave San Diego California on Saturday, Oct 1st at 5pm so you will have all day to get to San Diego and we get back on Saturday the 8th at 7am.

I already have two teachers besides myself, more classes and topics to follow as you sign up and they will cost around $20 each to help cover preparation and material costs.

I will also offer a class for art collectors called Education at Sea, Caring For Art if you have someone who is not a framer but would like to have education on a cruise.

The balcony rooms are not real abundant so you'll want to call Julie right away to block out a room. Prices start at $449 up to $570 plus a port charge of $224. The Mexican Riviera for less than $1,00 per person and because it's for business purposes.... Well.... you know.
A deposit of $350 per person will hold your reservation.
Call Julie-Ann today 1-800-JULIE or 1-800-551-8881.

If you have any questions email me: nona.powers1@cox.net and I'll try to answer them or Julie's email is: julie@tvldyn.com and she can send you a flyer about the trip.

Why am I doing this, because I want to go and now I have an excuse to do it. I hope you will all join me

Nona,

I applaud the movement to education at sea. We picked up some CEUs last year on the Windsurf while crossing the other pond. 4 masters credits in oceanography for the $125 fileing fee was cheap.

So how about a frame at sea on a Windstar ship in the Carribean or Bahamas? The Star & Spirit hold 128 passengers with 98 crew.... very pampered.
The Surf takes 320 passengers. and set up nicely for powerpoint lectures.
I'm up to teaching my fabric wrap class . . .

To teach for the cruise ship you need to write a fromal proposal and provide a video of you doing your thing. I'm just offering these classes on my own. We get a room to hold the classes in but the ship is not offering the classes. I'm going to see how this one works then yes, we can go lots of places and I believe it is a business expense if your updating your skills.

I'm going to teach the Caring for Art class for anyone, but only people in my group will know about it. I will tape it and then do the proposal for the next cruise. Who knows what the response will be, but for now, I just want to go to the Mexican Riviera and this is one cruise I can afford.

Come, teach your class. This time of year is pretty good because prices are resonable, the busy season really gets going right after and there are no framing shows. The weather should be nice.

We hope to set up an art related tour in one of the ports and maybe there will be tours offered of ruins. I'll know soon.. We are working on it and there will be more information as it goes along.

If any of you have not done a cruise, they are really fun, Holland America is a good line and it's not a huge ship, only about 18 hundred people rather than 3 or 4 thousand.

I would love to see 40 or 50 framers come, but will handle as many as we get. Join us!!

Wrong phone numbers. Sorry about that.

1 800 92-Julie or 1-800 925 8543.

Lots of people are planning on going, best make the call soon because these are really good prices.

And then there is alway the opportunity to attend one of the "Art Auction at Sea" that are on almost every cruise ship. Maybe some of those people buying cruise art are in your hometowns and will be needing a framer.
Have opened several framed cruise art pieces framed by the selling auction house/gallery and they are put together with masking/packing tape hinges and the like. Good opportunity to talk about doing it the right way to protect all of that vauable art on board.

Next time when the cruise leaves from the east coast, we would love to go. Have cruised three times. Most vacation bang for your buck in my opinion. Have a nice time.

I am going to make a proposal to teach classes on FACTS on another cruise to the whole ship, but doubt they will take me up on it. If you were the ship board galleries would you let such a thing happen? I doubt it, but I plan on trying.

I love cruising, but lack the necessary funding for it and I would like to get the word out about FACTS to art collectors as well as framers. If I can combine it all together, that would be great. My husband will video me doing this presentation to collectors who sign up for this cruise and then we will see where It goes.

For now I just want to go to the Riviera and going with friends and collegues would be more fun than going alone so I hope lots of you come. You won't be able to beat the price or the friendly faces who are already going.

Not a huge response on TG judging by how fast this sank (that could be a pun but we won’t go there). Julie told me today there are only 12 more rooms with balcony's on this cruise in October so if you want a balcony room and are thinking of going, best book now.

Do book with Julie so I get credit for your booking. I'm trying for 35 people, want 50 but will do more if more come. Call Julie at 1-800-925-8543 and tell her Nona told you to call.

I realize some of you can’t get away from your shops for a week, but if you have not done a cruise and it’s possible for you to do this, I think you’ll find it fun and relaxing. We will do some gallery tours in Puerto Vallarta with a guide and a total of 9 classes will be offered with about 4 or 5 teachers.

OK, we’ll let this sink behind the horizon this time until October gets closer. Then I’ll be B-A-C-K!
