Hi!
I'm new to framing, and I was wondering if I should look into taking a framing certificate course?
I have previously worked as a framer's assistant, but that job ended quite sometime ago. I live in Toronto, Ontario, and was curious if anyone had any suggestions for courses in that area?
Thanks for any help!

join local ppfa chapter. read everything in their library and as much in the ppfa bookstore as you can afford. go to any class you can attend. bone up on the Cert. Pic. Framer exam (details via ppfa) & take/pass it. read/absorbe FACTS . read/absorbe everything on TG as far back as the archives go & glean the really 'good' stuff(your choice here). get 'friendly' with any/all framers (you do NOT have to have an adversarial relationship with these people-altho some of them will insist on it!) in your area and shoot the breeze with them as often as possible(this is where you get the 'good' stuff). practice practice practice(on the stuff you 'know') then figureout/practice on the new stuff you DON'T know. you have access to a cmc??? practice practice on that till you "KNOW" everything......get good/smart enough and one of the makers might just hire you for a front man?
You too can become an industry 'spurt!!!

that should hold you for the first 30-40 days...after that you're on your own! ;)

Christina,

Knowledge is, and always will be, the most important tool in framing and mistakes can be very expensive. We'll be offering classes in Canada, but probably not until next year. Consider taking one of our U.S. classes. You can find more information at our website, www.pictureframingschool.com .
