I am creating a shadowbox frame for a Stefana. A Stefana is a set of crowns tied together with a long ribbon that is used in an Orthodox Greek wedding ceremony. My problem is I can't figure out how to artfully arrange the 3 foot long ribbon. All of the premade frames just let it bunch on the bottom, not so pretty. Anyone have ideas?

COOL!!!!!! have a pics??
HOw are you mounting the crown?

I would pin down the ribbon make it look like it flows!!!!! Sew it
into place!!!! It's really fun to do and not hard at all! Less is MORE of course!

Is that the only =thing going in the shadowbox? :popc:

I wanna do one!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!! :D

I must apologize for the ugly framing job on the ugly stefana. It was used at the girl's parents' wedding and she and her hubby used it at theirs. The original ribbon was filthy and in tatters - they were thrilled when I said I could replace it. I also straightened out all the little pearly jobbies and even added new pearls.

I thought the whole thing was a hideous mess but they loved it.

So view my photo as What NOT to do with a stefana.

I wish I had pics of the one I did a few years ago.
It was in a acrylic box, and the fabric wrapped platform had a "mound" of bunched up fabric----------looked SOOOO cool!

Thank goodness for talented friends

So, I had a Greek friend of mine who is a talented artist come in and she came up with this design. We used a combination of sewing and hot glue, adding some craft store embellishments, and a very deep shadowbox frame. Not the frame I would have chosen but it matched their other furniture. The customer was very happy, always a good thing.

Forbes...

Thanx for showing the finished project. The Stefana looks great. I like the placement of the ribbon and the embellishments. The frame, eh. But as long as the customer is happy. I hate having to match framing to the decor instead of the object being framed but we have all had to do it to make the customer happy.

Great job!
