I am framing a football jersey in a jersey case where it hangs from a hanger. My customer wants to have two signed photos of the player put in with the jersey. I thought that I would pick small frames to go around the photos and screw them into the backing.

Here's the question. Do I need to put glass over the small photos within the box? They might have a small mat around them. The box comes with a UV filtering glass.

Also suggestions for this project would be appreciated.

Thanks, Susan

I have framed Many jerseys over the years...in fact I am probably one of the few people who actually ENJOYS doing them. But back to your question, yes I would use glass over the photos that you mount inside with the jersey. It will just help to make sure that your mat doesn't "push out" as they sometimes do when you don't have glass on a picture so then you would have to go back in and add it anyway, plus I think it adds a bit of depth to the jersey presentation overall.

I wouldn't - extra work & you get double glare & if the little frame is assembled properly - it shouldn't have pressure on it. I would glue the mattes to a stiffer backing - just don't get glue too close to the photos. We've done this often & some of them sre on display in our store - been there along time.

Great use for all that scrap Museum glass that has been stacking up.

Susan, another thing you can do is to just cut openings in the mat-backing for the photos. Since the mat is large and the openings small, it won't get that pucker. Plus you won't have to "screw around" with mounting the other frames.
