I have a pneumatic cassesse joiner. Occassionally some of the frames will turn and leave a gap. This is especially true with frames that have a scoup. I bought the joiner second hand. I have several different attachments to use with the head that I think might be designed for this problem. One is a piece of wood that would allow the plunger to contact the edges instead of hitting on the scouped out place on the frame. I was told that the wood attrachemnt would have to have felt attached to prevent any damaget to the frame. At present it only has a wood surface and not protective felt. I would appreciate any advice I could get with this problem.

You could take any soft cloth, wash towel, or wad of paper towels and use that beneath the plunger to keep from marring the surface of the frame. If it has too much give, the moulding will still rise as the plunger pushes up.

I have used offcuts of the frame being joined to create a "reverse profile" foot for my underpinner. Cut two pieces to create a "corner sample" but in reverse. cover this in felt or similar and use this under the presser/bung in your underpinner. The two profiles will meet together. I will post a few pics of what I have created to help join those pesky scouped mouldings.

A Stress Ball (made of memory foam) often works well in helping the clamps conform to the contour of the moulding.
