Frames for stained glass piece

Jacqueline ...I use any moulding appropriate for the work that has enough depth to put a stained quarter round moulding into the back of the frame holding the stained glass in the package.

Quarter round mouldings are available at any of the BB building suppliers such as Lowe's or Menard's.

Are you looking for the brass/zinc metal channels that the stained glass panels set in? Contact a stained glass artist or Google "lead came" found some good sources that way.

If you want two sided wood frames then I have cut moulding down and

Picture Woods. You can specify the depth of the channel.

Works with any double sided art, also -

Rip a slot in the moulding (at the right depth) for a fillet. Glue in the fillet and paint the back, if necessary. Join 3 legs of the frame in a U shape and insert the glass/art. Attach the fourth leg (top or bottom depending on visibility) with screws so that the piece can be taken apart if need be in the future. Cutting the slots requires a small table saw - I keep one in my shop to cut slots for glass in my display cases made from frames.

DeAntigua, out of Holland, MI has a 1", 1 1/2", and 2" flat top moulding with a channel for stained glass. They are oak, and come in a variety of finishes, or unfinished. Very reasonably priced.

Burnich also carries them, 1-1/4" in three different stains.
