Does anyone ever feel that the Framerica line that L/J carries is limited and that you would benefit from being able to order the whole line chopped or length. L/J's line on the subject is that "you can get the whole line from us, you just need to order a whole box". Not necessarily the most cost effective way to do business for a smaller shop. Sometime ago I thought I saw a thread about some shops, that were located near Framerica, could get length or chops directly? I, for one, would love to offer the whole Framerica line, but buying in box quantity right now is not where I'm at.

Everybody is over in Warped...

There is certain profiles from Framerica that they will sell to you chopped. And others that are box only.

I have a full catalog and I'll look to see if there is a way of knowing which is which.

One really good thing about their boxes, they are smaller in length that a lot of companies. Most are in the 100 to 200 ft range. Some of the larger profiles can be 50 or 60 ft.

That makes it easier to buy a box.

And if you are buying only 1 box at a time, you can have it added to your LJ order and they will transfer truck it for you with regular delivery and you don't have to pay freight. You do pay LJ a little more than buying direct, but the savings is definitely in the freight on 1 box orders.

Maybe you can find another framer on the route to split the box with you.

I buy full boxes and lengths directly. It depends on what moulding you buy.

They sell their Bonanza wood in box quantity's only. You can buy other types ( like their moulding on Pine) by the bundle. You might be able to find shops that are forced to buy full boxes but are more then willing to sell you footage.

Call them directly and ask a sales rep who in your area might be buying that particular moulding, or if they know anyone who has been forced to buy a full box but might not need it all.

Let's try this from another angle...if there was a source whereby you could get the complete Framerica line as a single chop or small quantity length would it be of any value to the average frameshop?

Yes and No!

How do you like that for an answer? Yes I would like to have the whole line available to me. But the real advantage IMO of selling Bonanza Wood is the low price. Chops and a couple of stick length doesn't get you the low price.

I have brought in a dozen boxes as a Value Line and nobody else in my immediate area has them Now that is an advantage.

Yes, I would like to have the full line available... preferably at Larson. I asked about the black bonanza months ago and was told that it would compete with their regular line. Last month when the sales rep was in he told me they would start carrying it. So maybe they are rethinking their strategy.
