If I were to get a brand new POS from FrameReady, would they supply me with data for discontinued mouldings so I can sell leftovers from boxes that I have in stock?

I do understand they don't erase newly disc product - just mark it as such - > I am wondering about setting up a new system if the old products will be in it!

old stock

Hi Brian,
Your new FrameReady program will only contain current moulding and matboard items.

If you have 30 or fewer discontinued items in stock, you can easily enter them by hand and price them as you wish. If you have more than that, you may want to contact the vendor(s) and see if they have the information of only the discontinued items in an excel file which can be imported into your FrameReady program. Or, if another Canadian FrameReady client still has the discontinued items in their database, they can perform a Find for just the discontinued items and export them into a file which you can easily import into your FrameReady program.

These are just a few options to explore; I'm sure there are others.

What I am guessing here, is that, you feel you have a lot of discontinued items in stock and you may not be sure of the original wholesale cost of those items. You may want to call the office and see if Bert has any other ideas or suggestions. (I'll be on vacation next week or I would suggest calling me on Tuesday.)

Hope to see some other people chime in on how they handled it with their program.

I can't imagine that you have that many discontinued numbers. In any event it is easy to set up a new vendor and place all those "old discontinued" items with that made up name. You could use a default markup.... or create your own formula for pricing.

The name could easily be " Store Stock" or "Special Buys".......... or what ever name you want.

How many boxes are we talking about? Are they priced the same as all your moulding, or do you have a different price structure for them? When I buy boxes, it's easy to enter them with their own pricing. Just be sure that you change the number from the manufacturers number. Otherwise, when you do a price update, FR will import the mfr's length & chop prices and erase whatever you used for your cost.

Thanks all

Very helpful - I'll do the xl thing Carol - ya about 30 items, not full boxes but stuff thats disc yet unique & I know I can sell! I can easily put them in excell! Call them my own product & go from there!

We assign all box moulding in our value line with a different SKU. We put our own price per foot on these and they do not get marked up with our usual mark-up tables. Simple. We put poster special moulding packages, by size and style, in the Ready Made field under Products. We use scanners for everything.

Hope this helps. Great program and even better support.
