I have replaced lower HP motors with higher ones in the past . Couple of things to be aware of: be sure your supply wire, breakers and panel are rated for the higher amperage. Otherwise you run the risk of tripping the breaker or overheating wires. Also - you want to be sure to get the correct mounting bracket and capacitor and that the increased rpm's are acceptable with your blades as well as the correct arbor size. If your machine is not a direct drive and has a pulley system, check with the manufacturer to be sure the additional rpm's are acceptable for the bearings in the pulley block.
