Step right up... step right up and play "Guess.... This.... Frame!"

Do I have any volunteers?

The red has a barely there red that is showing in the photo more than it does in person.

Looks like a discontinued International.

Well, if anyone would know about IM, I know it would be you Jeff. Do you happen to know a moulding number by chance?

...and the shop it came from, I don't recall them having used IM, so I'm hoping it may be another vendor.

I didn't see it in the gone items but some of those have dropped off the site over the years. IM has been in the business of supplying vendors for many years now. I was told by one vendor that every independent vendor in the U.S. carries some of their mouldings. Over the years they have also run private profiles so the vendor would be the only one to offer it. Many of the vendors use private labels so the moulding would come with that supplier's number and give no indication that it was produced by Int'l.

PM Dave at Frame Makers as he may know the item number.

Just so you know going forward Chris, that is a 2" Hogarth with a ripple lambs tongue sight.

Now if you're a LeWinter Moulding customer.... you may find it interesting that with a little
alteration of that search wording in Google, will give you their entire price list.

:help:

Nope, I don't recognize it.

Thanks all, and thanks Baer on the terminology. I wish there were a document on how to best describe the precise frame styles I sell. I'd love to commit it to memory. Feel like making an educational PDF, Baer? I'd print and study it! :)

Bill, would love to know if it used to be Omega. Just want to make sure its not available before proceeding with the customer. Two identical portraits to hang next to each other, so would be ideal to be in the same frame.

Chris, I thought about that pdf for you.... my book shelf wall is 8' long with three shelves.
the over flow is in a free standing self that I need to weed out or get another.....
There is no short answer to compile that and 45 years of education . .

I have offered in the past a class titled "The Socio-Anthropological History of Frames & Framing",
which I have given all over the world, (even on an Atlantic crossing that ended at Lisbon and the
perfect museum) . . . many who have taken it, have reported back that it has helped them
sell frames on all sorts of different levels.

It makes a difference when you suggest a Hepplewhite frame, instead of a goopy gold from
the John Aston collection......

BTW: my discription was a trick - - I was checking as to who was reading and who was just
talking..... the sight (gold lip) is actually a fine example of "egg and dart". The origin comes to
us from Greece 350BC.... it represents "Life & Death" . It is also one of the 117 unique band
patterns that make up the sides of Alexander the Great's sarcophagus.

The one I am thinking about is Omega 80055. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill! ...funny timing. My Omega rep who I haven't seen it a year walked in today, and as I was flipping thru his catalog I photographed that exact profile moments ago...

I think I'll present this moulding as the best option to the customer, if we're trying to get somewhere close to the original.

Thanks for all the help! :)
