I don't know what these are really called, but my cousin told me about them
yesterday, and I'm wondering if you're familiar with them. She said she was
in a gallery on the Oregon Coast and they had what sounds like a shadowbox
with a spoon in it. Clear acrylic, front and back, and the acrylic had been
shaped to conform to the shape of the spoon. Sounded to me sort of like
those 'shrinky dinks' they used to make, where the plastic is tightened
with heat, but I don't know how these are done.

P.S. I told her that the only time this would probably work is if it's a hard object,
and one not prone to fading. I'm familiar with the acrylic framing piece one can
get for baseballs, etc... that has a place in it shaped to fit the ball, but from what
she said, this is a customized thing that shapes the acrylic to whatever is in it.

I'd hate to be someone having to do it, as melted plastic fumes as a fast
way to toast one's pancreas.

This was discussed in an earlier thread. I don't recall the name of the product, but it had 2 hinged frames with a flexable plastic. You opened it up and paced you item inside and then closed it over and the plastic formed to fit the object.
