Foamboard edges

What is the best way to finish the edges of 1/2" (or greater) foamboard which will be the substrate for laminated, unframed photos? Acrylic paint? Tape? Other???

Could reverse bevel, but still need a professional, "finished" look.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated...

Whenever I get unbelievably lazy and take my >40x60 dry mount jobs to a lamination company to drymount on foamcore for me they try to put these plastic edging strips around the perimiter. They don't look to bad, actually. I don't know what they are called, but they exist.
