Hey Y'all,
Do you seal the edges of the foam core if you are using it for the float support? I had used Artcare foamcore to fill the space behind a fillet. I found acid burn on the prints after just a couple of years. The fillet was sealed with the Lineco frame sealing tape. Would acrylic medium, brushed on the cut edge seal? Thank you for any info or suggestions.

Where exactly was the acid burn relative to the materials used? Did you cover the whole fillet with the Lineco tape bridging onto the AFFC? If so, at what point does the acid line appear?

Technically, for maximum protection, any wood product like a fillet should be at least an inch away from the artwork.

The foam inside archival foam core is not archival. What makes it "archival" is the paper lining the top and back. I use 8 ply solid rag mats to line the sides of my fillets. I then use frame sealing tape (marvel seal) right up to the edge of the back of the fillet and cover the join of the fillet to the 8 ply.
