I made my first handmade floater frame today. Baer you would be proud of me, I was very meticulous and craftsmany. It was really fun and super easy. I can see myself making many more for the artist.

The only pictures I took were before the artist stained it and while the painting was propped in it so it doesn't look that impressive.
You can't see the work that went into the inside.
Basically, I took 1x2x3/4" and 1x4x3/4" poplar boards,
made an L shape,
glued, clamped, and nailed them together
cut my 45*,
screwed the corners together,
braced the corners,
wood puttied all the holes and
sanded that sucker till my brain was vibrating. :icon9:
I love when wood is fresh and clean and smooth like that. If I was really good I wood have dove-tailed it or used biscuit joints but I'll leave that for the true craftsmen out there. Maybe next time.

Poplar, did you seal it natural or paint the wood?
