float mount adhesive???

What do you find is the best tape to use for float mounting heavy pieces of artwork? I tend to like the gummed linen tape, but sometimes applying water to the artwork is a bit tricky. Is there any other tried and true method that anyone would be willing to recommend? I appreciate all help and thank you in advance.

No tape is safe for use with art work. Hinges made
from Japanese tissue (washi) and cooked vegetable
starch paste are the only safe method of securing
a sheet of paper in a window mat.More information
