Fletcher 8460 Multi cutter worth??

Perhaps a bit more....

Sarah,

Although the F-8400 series was replaced by the F-3000 in the early 1990's, the F-8400 still functions as a good glass cutter. The F-3000 was the first wall machine designed from scratch to service the framing industry.

The F-8400 does not have the really strong right support arm, and it's weakest element was the cutting head, where the cast elements could wear out. Now that these cannot be replaced from Fletcher-Terry that's a problem, unless you can pickup parts elsewhere like this [thread=30726]F-8400 cutting head offered in the Classified Section [/thread]of the Grumble, by Bill Zimdar.

With a new head on an F-8400, I'd say, you've got a $800 machine easily. If you would like a second machine for cutting glass - WONDERFUL.

If you want a machine to cut glass, matboard and foam centered board, then go with the F-3000. It has a better clamping system, beefed up right support and improved leveling adustments, plus a head with wear pads, so it's life is improved over the F-8400.
