I purchased a Fletcher 5100 pneumatic vnailer within the last 2 years. I went to order vnails from United, and lo and behold, they weren't listed, the machines are no longer listed and I NEED vnails. Does anyone have a source?? I sent an email inquirying about it to Fletcher, they told me that they would continue to service the machine, and supply vnails through distribution - where is the distribution????

I haven't found one, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THEM??

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am not a happy camper - I purchased Fletcher because after my research I thought I was buying quality equipment and I had been very happy with my mat cutter and glass cutter. Does anyone have a recommendation for a joining machine in another brand that they would HIGHLY recommend? I think I need an alternative if I can't find the vnails.

Thanks!

Elaine,
Call Fletcher and ask who the closest distributor might be. They are extremely helpful and I'm sure they can give you the name of a distributor close to you.

I love my AMP VN-42. I bought it 2 years ago and have had no problems.
I was trained and used a casesse for 16 years, but this machine is now over 20 years old and parts are getting harder to find.

Go with the machine that started it all, the Cassise, they are without a doubt, the best.
I have a CS 810 that I've been using for almost twenty years and it still works great. I just got a new one from Active Sales, I think it's called the 299 Ultra, I'm at home now so I'm not sure of the number.

Call Fletcher back and tell them to ship you the V nails direct or give you the phone number of a scorce for them. If they won't do that, tell them to give you a refund on the machine. If they refuse to do that, take them to small claims court. Put out publicity news releases about the court action. Post everything on The Grumble about how it went, good or bad.

Good Luck,

John

Ditto Diver Dave on the AMP/Putnam/Miter-Mite VN-42. We bought ours some time ago, after using a VN2+1 for over ten years. Both are excellent tools.

So far, I've had to buy one replacement part (in 1996, an air valve for the VN2+1). It came in less than a week from United Mfrs. Supply

But V-nailers are like most of the other specialized framing tools -- we seem to like best what we have, because we haven't used any of the others; at least not enough to become familiar with them.

There are several good v-nailers on the market, and surely they all work. I suggest going to a big trade show (Atlanta is the biggest) and check out all of the machines available. Take home the one you like best for your purposes.
