I am attempting to square up my F-3000 board and glass cutter. Is the method of placing a full sheet of matboard, making two small cuts (top and bottom), and then reversing the board and making a cut at the top the best way to accomplish squaring --- or, are there any tricks out there to do it? My machine is not cutting perfect measurements and is off by just a very small amount. Any tricks, or tips appreciated. Maybe the manual has the best method, but I wanted input from anyone else that checks their machine to be square. Thanks.

we use a carpenters level and big carpenters square initially..then do the cut and flip cut thingy

Jason, recommend you call Fletcher Technicians. I was having a real problem and I called them. They faxed out instructions and the instructions are different that what they use to tell us to do. It worked great and my 3000 is dead on. Joe

Jason,

Indeed - this is an excellent method to determine squarness - As you are bi-secting a 180 degree angle (Clean cut at the bottom of your foam board sheet).

Tips
  • Use foam centered board - not matboard, as the ridgidity will give you more accurate readings
  • Make sure the one straight edge laying in the material rest is indeed straight
  • Make sure that when you make the two short test cuts (2 inches top and 2 inches bottom), that the foam board is resting securely in the main rest - not balanced half and half
  • Make sure that the right arm is adjusted level to or lower than the left material rest, otherwise this will give you a false reading
