Greetings Folks from a Newbie,

I am interested in picture framing and glad I have found this site. I have ran into someone selling a Fletcher 2000 used very little which has been in a storage unit for 3-5 years. The owner is willing to part with it for $500 .... could someone with the knowledge on such things help me out with a fair price.

Thank You

Horse, you posted in the middle of another thread, so both your post and my repsonse should/will be moved. However, to answer your question, a Fletcher 2000 was a fine mat cutter 20 years ago. Now it is 2 generations obsolete and you can no longer get parts for it. I would pass. Instead, look for a Fletcher 2100 used or a Logan Framer's Edge new in the lower price ranges. If money is no object, then I would suggest a new Fletcher 2200 or a Chronomat. Both are excellent mat cutters.

Hey Newbie, I a pretty Newbie too.
I have a fletcher 2100, 60" Mat cutter for sale. Asking $850 Only 2 1/2 years old. Excellent/Mint Condition. E-mail me at pattyspygmies@hotmail.com. Pictures available if you like. Also pricing is negotiable. I also have a Fletcher 1100 Oval cutter for $950 if interested. Once again 2 1/2 years old and in excellent condition Hope to hear from you Patty

Horezz, the advice that Paul gave you is something indeed for you to think about if parts are no longer available for the 2000.

With that information though, and if you are able to demo the machine and it is in good working order you might be in a position to negotiate a much much lower price on the machine. As Paul said it was once, "state of the art" so if it is in good working order and you can get it for a couple of hundred it might serve you well until the time comes to replace it.

F-2000 valuation....

Horse,

You've received some good advise on just a few postings. To compliment this information you should know that the F-2000 was introduced in 1987 and was produced until about 1992 when it was replaced by the F-2100. A number of common components are shared by the two machines which is why many parts are still available.

The F-2200 replaced the F-2100 about 3 years ago with mostly ergonomic changes and improved scales.

The changes made from the F-2000 to the F-2100 were major and took it from a very good machine to a great machine. Putting values on these used piece of equipment is a bit tricky, but I don't think I would pay much more than $300 for an F-2000 simply because their are enough F-2100's out there in good condition, as Paul mentioned.

Patty's machine is an example but keep in mind it is a 60inch model, where the 48 inch size is more pratical for the majority of framers.

Good luck,

John

I`d keep looking, there`s a better deal out there if you can afford to be patient. Try EBAY(really, long as you know ALL about what your`e looking for!).Managed to find my 2100 NEW/sealed in box for $700 +$24 shipping. Also try www.pictureframingequipment.com yeah,I keep dragging this addy up....But they rock!BTW, in my opinion This is something I wouldn`t buy used unless I could see it first,or had a competent,HONEST seller. L.R.

It is difficult to price used equipment sometimes. I have a slightly/lightly used 60" Fletcher 2000 that someone expressed some interest in and I don't use it as much now that I have my Wizard.

I've put a price tag of $ 250.00 on it as a u-pick-up item and even then wonder if I want to sell it since it is a great straight cutter for over size items. Better than my wall cutter when I want to trim slivers.
