I have just gotten in several Fledrix treated original silk screen print canvas's. they are printed with pigmented water-based fine art inks/8L lightfastness rating.

My thought is to stretch mount these; and cover with Musuem glass (w/spacers of course).

Is this correct and if someone to share some educational wisdom on these types of prints, it would be azppreciated!

Sue ...do you mean Frederix canvas? Frederix out of Georgia is a large manufacturer/importer/coater of artist canvas and I believe has a silk screen canvas.

If it has a gessoed surface (stiff white) then it makes sense that waterbased inks would adhere and then require that it have glazing with spacers as you suggested you want to do.

Depending on the subject matter it might lend itself to a fabric wrapped liner which could double as a spacer by placing the museum glass between the liner and the frame. I often do this especially with light colored dirt mark prone liners. With museum glass you can hardly tell the glazing is there.

If you do the above be sure to charge for the larger size museum glass as the size you need will be larger than the art image size.

Probably the same thing, but mine is printed "fredrix silk screen". Publisher Colville Publisher.

I hadn't thought about the liner - don't know why - it's a great suggestion.
thanks for the info!

Oops ...I've been out of the art material biz so long I misspelled Fredrix!

:icon20:

Hope it turns out nice, Sue.
