Beautiful, Cathy.

Way to start the day!

How COOL is that!!!!! ;) That would totally make my day!

If he did I hope he didn't make a "deposit"!

:smileyshot22:

Keep them flocking in the doors, Cathy...

:faintthud:

Nope but he ate three of my Cashew Sandies, I needed to share 'em though, they were crumbing up my coffee.
Yup, Cashew Sandies, they are new from Nabisco. On sale at Publix.

Peacock liked 'em.

That's fantastic....we have a flock of them hanging around our house along with sandhill cranes and of course the occassional gator...but none of them have made it to the shop yet.

A friend of ours in Avon Park FL ( just up the road ) has 14 peacocks that are more or less his "pets" and hang around his workshop at his ranch.

I don't like sharing my cookie that much.

Are they really called peahens? How aweful! But thanks for the update.

You think that's awful? The late George Carlin (God rest and keep his soul) had a rather crude joke about what female peacocks were called. Think about it.

All are Peafowl, so Peacock and Peahen are correct. I think this may be a juvenile Peacock. You can see his tail in his shadow on the ground, and there are longish feathers. Much easier to spot when in display mode.

We have an antique vase full of Peacock tail feathers in the keeping room. Our daughter used to harvest (as they were shed, not from live birds) them for us when she volunteered at the zoo.

Not sure. You know how some words are just pretty and some just sound, revolting. Peahen is almost there...maybe because she is sans magnificent plummage she deserves a dowdy sounding name.

Trying to think of an example....spittoon. Now that is just off the cuff. And of course it is a perfectly disgusting word for a rather icky item.
I am sure I can come up with a better example. I am normally sharper with the words.

While you've already got your answer, in all birds the male is the more colorful one. Just why, I don't know - it seems we humans buck that tendency....
